Week 9 — The Comparison Trap

Before We Break

A STRONGER TOMORROW IS STILL POSSIBLE.

THE WEEKLY REFLECTION · ISSUE 09

The Comparison Trap

Your marriage isn’t a highlight reel.

It’s easy to compare your marriage to your friends or even your own best memories of it. But comparison can make now look worse than it is.

This week, compare your marriage only to itself. Where are you now, compared to six months ago? What’s actually changed?

“Comparison steals perspective. Focus on your own progress.”

01 · This week’s exercise

List three ways your marriage is different now than it was six months ago — for better or worse.

02 · Conversation question

“What are we doing better now than we were before?”

03 · This week’s challenge

Limit outside comparisons this week, and focus on what’s real in your marriage. Notice setbacks as honestly as progress.

Try shared exercises only when both people can speak freely and safely. If a conversation feels unsafe, skip it and seek individual support.
